Ionic bond

It’s an electrostatic force of attraction produced between two unlike ions ( cation and anion) that hold these ions together in a molecule of definite shape and structure is known as ionic bond

Example

salts are the examples of ionic bond .

NaCl, KCl ,CaCl2, MgCl2 etc

Properties of ionic compounds

The most important and common properties of ionic compounds are as follows

They have definite shape and crystalline solid structure

They are solid at room temperature

Their melting point is very high

They conduct electricity only in molten and liquid forms

They are soluble in water
